Question by Tucking Fypos: Does time travel in more than two directions?
So we as humans see time as going in two directions, backwards (the past), and forwards (the future). We can only travel in one direction, and can only travel at one speed (“real time”). But what if there were infinite directions, like if I had a decision to make, what if the timeline split into two futures; one where I made said decision and one where i didn’t. Now since there are infinite possibilities, maybe there is an infinite amount of timelines, and time travels in an infinite amount of directions, similar to height, width and length do.

Or I could be way off, your thoughts?

The second term of that series is 4. I need to find two possibilities for a(the first term) and r (rate).
I know the formula is a/(1-r)=18 but im not sure how to get a and r two different ways. Please help

How about a hint? You seem to be on the right track and I hate to rob you of the joy of discovering the answer yourself.

Hint. Terms are: a, 4, … So if the ratio is r, then ar = 4 and so a = 4/r. Subsitute, solve and you win!

This makes me think of an aspect of our jury system that Jurors are to base their decisions on just the things that are presented in the trial. If an expert witness for one side of the trial says something and the other side does not raise any doubt about the truth of the statement then the jury is expected to accept what was said. Jurors are not expected to base the decision on things they have learned prior to the trial. If somebody knows something about the topic of the trial they usually are excluded from serving.

The motivation for excluding such people is to exclude jurors that potentially have a reason to decide one way or the other that is something other than a desire for the truth. If one has a knowledge about the topic of the case one might have a vested interest in a particular outcome of the trial.

This is yet another example of the fact that no system devised by man is perfect.

Clearly write out the POV character’s story goal to keep on track, then list some obstacles to that goal. Begin with a brief setup of the normal world, an incident that makes the POV character have to pursue the story goal, and then have them overcome the selected obstacles until the worst one right before the climax where you must answer the story goal question.

Let’s say that there was a lottery, and there were literally an infinite number of people playing the lottery, could any 1 person ever win?

in a lottery with 10 people, each person has a 10% chance to win, with 100 people it’s 1%, with 1,000 it’s 1/10th a %, and so on, and so on. But with an infinite number of people playing a lottery, wouldn’t each person have to have a 0% chance of winning, since any number compared to infinity = 0 ?
ok people, what I meant by lottery was let’s say each person has an equal chance of winning, like, everybody chooses a number. you have a person with the number 1, then number 2, then number 3, and so on untill you get to infinity, so you have an infinite number of people playing with infinite numbers. Could anybody actually win? Could a computer ever pick out a number if any number would have to have a 0% chance of winning? I figured that any number would have 0% because if there were ten different numbers each has a 10% chance of winning, with 100 you get 1%, and so on, so if you got to infinity each number would have to have 0%. So it seems to me that nobody could ever win. I guess you just could not have an actual infinity to begin with, the universe doesn’t comprehend it.

Firstly, we will decide on 2 integers as the solutions. Suppose that we choose 3 and 5.

Next, we will from two equations using them.

We will use another 4 random integers, say 6,7,8 and 9.

3(6) + 5(7) = 18 + 35 = 53
Thus, the first equation can be 6x + 7y = 53

3(8) – 5(9) = 24 – 45 = -21
Thus, the second equation can be 8x – 9y = -21

In this case, the solutions will be x = 3 and y = 5, which are the integers we have chosen.
