Notes: I am head over heals for this couple, and particularly the guy, Jang Geun-Suk, who plays the charming Mu-Gyul in this drama. The drama itself is pretty low-key but the chemistry between the couple is so stellar it’s no wonder they rapidly became the biggest couple of the year in Korea. You absolutely do not need to have watched the drama to watch this–it’s straightforward romance (with some quirkiness). I threw this together in the last week before I left to travel to see family and then go to Vidukon. I debated tidying it up more, after inflicting it on a few people at Vidukon. But really I think I just need to release it to the universe… the changes I would make wouldn’t dramatically change the viewing experience. This vid was very ‘of the moment’ in the sense that I was (and am) in an intensely romantic state of mind. Therefore I am happy leaving it ‘as is’, even if I could adjust some technical things more effectively. It flowed straight from my heart to the timeline so that seems more important…

Hello all, I have been pondering this idea for awhile, adn can’t find a way that completely shuts the idea down. My theory is that since the big bang, the smallest fraction of a second was random, but other then that, every occurance, even me typing this now, could somehow be calculated by the way the atoms were dispersed from the birth of our universe. Note: I do not believe in god, so please don’t reply religiously.

And the thoughts and decisions we make may appear to be our own choice, and they are, but they can be calculated by the amount of chemicals in our brains at what time and what ype it is. Basically its a theory of super quantum physics.

Can anyone else see what I’m saying, or am i crazy, anyone?

Hello all, I have been pondering this idea for awhile, adn can’t find a way that completely shuts the idea down. My theory is that since the big bang, the smallest fraction of a second was random, but other then that, every occurance, even me typing this now, could somehow be calculated by the way the atoms were dispersed from the birth of our universe. Note: I do not believe in god, so please don’t reply religiously.

And the thoughts and decisions we make may appear to be our own choice, and they are, but they can be calculated by the amount of chemicals in our brains at what time and what ype it is. Basically its a theory of super quantum physics.

Can anyone else see what I’m saying, or am i crazy, anyone?

I see what your saying and your not crazy its just that there are many dumb people in this world that are blind to whats really happening
Yes i know what your saying that is everything in this world pre-destined i think that it is not even though that the evidence points to chemical reactions that trigger certain actions from humans or anything in this world

From Wikipedia: “Madrigal” is a song performed by progressive rock band Yes. It is featured as track number 3 in their 1978 album Tormato. The song was written by Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, and features an string arrangement made by Andrew Pryce Jackman, an original idea of Rick Wakeman. The song features a clavichord in its entireness and vocals made by Anderson. Being a quite artistic song, it does not match much with the rest of the album, due to its simplicity of just one instrument, minimum Synthesizer notes, a string arrangement just hearable in the end of every verse, and vocals. Songs such as Release, Release give Tormato the sound everybody was alike to hear of Yes albums. Question by dr m: Define in detail the expansion of the universe.?
I understand that it means the distances between elements of the universe are increasing but why is it that we take that to mean that the universe is expanding when the distance between some elements is actually decreasing. Like for example, the fact that the distance between the milky way and the andromeda galaxy is decreasing.
I mean, there are noted celestial collisions all the time so is it that what we can observe is mostly distancing itself from the surrounding area? And if so, what is the actual number of elements separating versus congregating?
Or is it that most of the elements are distancing themselves from the center of the universe such that even if they are on a collision course with each other, they are actually on a distancing course from the center?
Are the elements that are actually getting closer to one another doing so only because of gravitational forces. And are these countering the force of separation?
Is there really nothing that’s headed in the direction of the center of the universe?

The expansion force of the universe is smaller than the force of gravity under ‘small’ distances, which is why although all space is expanding, YOU are not expanding, our planet is not expanding, and our galaxy is not expanding – local forces of gravity are stronger. And that’s the reason that Andromeda is still headed for the Milky Way, instead of moving away like almost everything else is doing. But on the whole, the universe is expanding.

St. Thomas Aquinas’ Cosmological Argument

The great Catholic thinker, philosopher and theologian St. Thomas Aquinas summarized his cosmological argument in the Summa Theologia. In this theological masterpiece, St. Thomas writes five “ways” that we can know God exists. His first three ways deal with the cosmological argument:
St. Aquinas argues that there are things in the world in motion (this simply means that things are changing) and that whatever is in motion must have been put in motion by another thing in motion. Aquinas holds that, “whatever is in motion must be put in motion by another,” and that, “this cannot go on to infinity, because then there would be no first mover.” Hence St. Thomas argues that in order to eliminate the infinite chain of motions, there must be a first mover and source of all motion, God.
The second way is very similar to the first. It argues that,” In the world of sense we find there is an order of efficient causes. There is no case known (neither is it, indeed, possible) in which a thing is found to be the efficient cause of itself; for so it would be prior to itself, which is impossible.” By this he means that any thing, circumstance or event cannot change itself, but can only change something else (concept of efficient cause). Since there is a string of causes in which the string cannot be infinite (see premise #1), then all causes must attribute themselves to a first cause: God.
The third way also argues using the notion of a chain of causes. St. Thomas notes that things in our world owe their existence to something else in the world. Aquinas calls this the way of “possibility and necessity,” meaning that all things made possible, necessarily attribute their existence to some pre-existing thing. Only God can be the source of all things since he is a being having its own necessity and does not need a pre-existing thing to cause him to exist. All things existing can trace themselves in a chain back to God.

A second shorter version of the cosmological argument can be formulated as:
Every being (that exists or ever did exist) is either a dependent being or a self-existent being.
Not every being can be a dependent being.
So there exists a self-existent being.

Finally, a third rendition of the cosmological argument (extracted from the book Philosophy for Dummies by Dr. Tom Morris):

1. The existence of something is intelligible only if it has an explanation.
2. The existence of the universe is thus either:
a. unintelligible or
b. has an explanation
3. No rational person should accept premise (2a) by definition of rationality
4. A rational person should accept (2b), that the universe has some explanation for its being.
5. There are only three kinds of explanations:
a. Scientific: physical conditions plus relevant laws yield the Event explained.
b. Personal: Explanations that cite desires, beliefs, powers and intentions of some personal agent.
c. Essential: The essence of the thing to be explained necessitates its existence or qualities (for example, if you ask why a triangle has 3 sides, I would respond that it is the essence and necessity for a triangle to have 3 sides by its definition.
6. The explanation for the existence of the whole universe can’t be scientific because there can’t be initial physical conditions and laws independent of what is to be explained. Event the Big Bang theory fails to explain the existence of the universe because modern science cannot explain where the original Big Bang singularity came from. The universe as a sum total of all natural conditions and laws cannot be explained unless we have an Archimidean reference point outside the system.
7. The explanation for the existence of the universe can’t be essential because the universe cannot exist necessarily. This is because, it could have been possible for the universe not to have existed (if the Big Bang had been slightly different it is possible for large-scale structures to not have existed). Thus the universe is not something the must necessarily or essentially exists.
8. Thus a rational person should believe that the universe has a personal explanation.
9. No personal agent but God could create the entire universe.
10. A rational person should believe that there is a God.

The Teleological Argument

The teleological argument, or argument from design, is also summarized by St. Thomas Aquinas in the Summa Theologica. Here is the extract from the Summa:

“The fifth way is taken from the governance of the world. We see that things that lack intelligence, such as natural bodies, act for an end, and this is evident from their acting always, or nearly always, in the same way, so as to obtain the best result. Hence it is plain that not fortuitously, but designedly, do they achieve their end. Now whatever lacks intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and

What are some of the feuds in your Universe mode and who are your champions? Most interesting answer gets the 10 points! The magazine has an interesting story by Tim Folger which is titled “Science’s Alternative to an Intelligent Creator.” The article begins by noting “an extraordinary fact about the universe: its basic properties are uncannily suited for life.” As physicist Andrei Linde puts it,
“We have a lot of really, really strange coincidences, and all of these coincidences are such that they make life possible.”

Too many “coincidences,” however, imply a plot.
Folger’s article shows that if the numerical values of the universe, from the speed of light to the strength of gravity, were even slightly different, there would be no universe and no life.
Recently scientists have discovered that most of the matter and energy in the universe is made up of so-called “dark” matter and “dark” energy.
It turns out that the quantity of dark energy seems precisely calibrated to make possible not only our universe but observers who can comprehend that universe.
Even Steven Weinberg, the Nobel laureate in physics and an outspoken atheist, remarks that “this is fine-tuning that seems to be extreme, far beyond what you could imagine just having to accept as a mere accident.”
And physicist Freeman Dyson draws the appropriate conclusion from the scientific evidence to date: “The universe in some sense knew we were coming.

I learned Mridangam under my Great Guru Mr.Parasala Ravi, who was the Principal of Indian Classical Music College in Kerala. In North India people use Tabla and in the south people use Mridangam for classical Music Concerts. Then I took off to bass guitar. I ve been playing in the band called Dharma India (formerly FIREFLY). The band toured and played in most of the best venues in india . We used to play all sorts of music from Rock n Roll , Rock, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Jazz-Rock, Fusion, Ragas, Pop, Funk.. etc etc.. we know more than 500 cover songs of various bands in the world. We ve our own album DELAYED GRATIFICATION, which is yet to be released officialy.. I am coming from a small town in India in Kerala. Married and ve two daughters… The town is the capital of earstwhile Cochin State . A place of different temple art forms. In India .. Many renowned artists come from my small town.. The native place of Dr.L.Subramanam, Dr.L.Sankar, Dr.L Vaithanaathan(violin trio, who play with John Mclaflin in sakthi) is my small town… I use a different style in playing bass. Maily percussive style(just like Tabla or Mridandam is played).This is a unique style which, to my belief nobody in the world plays.Though I was discouraged from adapting this style by many, I kept on practicing this. THE ANHTHROPIC PRICIPAL

Tthe anthropic principle, i.e., the idea that felicitous coincidences between the physical conditions of the universe and the life forms residing within the universe are logically and/or causally linked, leading to the possibility of inferring things about one from knowledge of the other.
Incidentally, the two example of “necessary” properties were (1) continuous existence of matter in space and time, and (2) all action should be between two portions of matter.

Neither of these two conditions is regarded as “necessary” today. In fact, they are both regarded as false.

Regarding the second, modern physics considers that interactions occur between fields, not via direct contact between material substances.
Folger then admits that this line of reasoning makes a number of scientists very uncomfortable. “Physicists don’t like coincidences.” “They like even less the notion that life is somehow central to the universe, and yet recent discoveries are forcing them to confront that very idea.”
There are two hurdles here, one historical and the other methodological. The historical hurdle is that science has for three centuries been showing that man does not occupy a privileged position in the cosmos, and now it seems like he does. The methodological hurdle is what physicist Stephen Hawking once called “the problem of Genesis.” Science is the search for natural explanations for natural phenomena, and what could be more embarrassing than the finding that a supernatural intelligence transcending all natural laws is behind it all?
Consequently many physicists are exploring an alternative possibility: multiple universes. This is summed up as follows: “Our universe may be but one of perhaps infinitely many universes in an inconceivably vast multiverse.” Folger says that “short of invoking a benevolent creator” this is the best that modern science can do. For contemporary physicists, he writes, this “may well be the only viable nonreligious explanation” for our fine-tuned universe.
The appeal of multiple universes—perhaps even an infinity of universes—is that when there are billions and billions of possibilities, then even very unlikely outcomes are going to be realized somewhere. Consequently if there was an infinite number of universes, something like our universe is certain to appear at some point. What at first glance seems like incredible coincidence can be explained as the result of a mathematical inevitability.
The only difficulty, as Folger makes clear, is that there is no empirical evidence for the existence of any universes other than our own. Moreover, there may never be such evidence. That’s because if there are other universes, they will operate according to different laws of physics than the ones in our universe, and consequently they are permanently and inescapably inaccessible to us. The article in Discover concludes on a somber note. * There are two other categories (Religion/Spirituality and Philosophy) in which I have posted the following. After looking through the rest of the categories, this one of Law and Ethics is the only other I thought this post could fall under in terms of relevance. *

I am particularly asking for Christians ( and by that I’m referring to those of you who affirm this creed, please read it: http://www.stnicholas.tx.goarch.org/cree… ) to respond to this post.

However, if you are not a Christian you are welcome to respond as well, but please mention yourself as a “non-Christian”.

I will present a hypothetical scenario that involves facing a moral dilemma. This scenario is not one conceived by me, I heard it in a segment of a debate. I put it in my own words and structured it a little bit more, but it is at its core the same scenario.

For this post, I define a moral dilemma as: a situation that is imposed on you, in which two or more of your moral values conflict with each other, such that acting in accordance with one will result in the violation of another.

The moral values that are stake in this scenario are:

Moral Value 1 : Rape is wrong
Moral Value 2: It is wrong to not act towards preventing the unjust taking of human lives, if you have the ability to prevent it from happening.

(Note: the numbers above to not indicate priorities. I only used them for the purpose of organization.)

The Scenario:

Aliens (beings that are non-human coming from elsewhere in the universe) arrive on the earth and threaten to destroy humanity (and suppose it is self-evident that they have the immediate capacity to do this).

You [the reader] and only you, are put on the spot, and are told by them (the aliens) that they will not destroy humanity under one condition: you rape a girl.

If you rape a girl, they will spare every human person on the planet (including yourself and the girl you rape).

If you do not rape a girl, they will kill every human person on the planet (including yourself).

Would you go through with raping a girl?

* Note : If you are a female who chooses to respond to this scenario, replace “girl” with “boy”.

Anyone who chooses to respond to this scenario, PLEASE, do not respond with a question. Simply, with the following:

(1) Identify yourself as “Christian” or “non-Christian”
(2) Brief answer (yes/ no)
(3) Explain your reasoning.

Also, anyone who chooses to respond, PLEASE do not make a comment about somebody else’s response – in your response please concern yourself strictly with your own point of view. In fact, preferably do not read someone else’s reponse so that your response is not skewed based on what someone prior to you said.

Lastly, understand that I am not endorsing rape or mass-killings. The above scenario is simply hypothetical. Use it to engage your moral intuition and reasoning.

Could the universe be a simulation?

Question by Unus Mundus: Could the universe be a simulation?
Technically couldn’t the entire universe just be a massive computer simulation. I know this sounds eerily like the matrix, but on a serious note. From the point of view of someone composed of this computer code they would see it all as a consistent seem-less world in which they have freedom, but they are bound by the rules of the code, aka the laws of nature.
The people inside could not fathom a world ‘outside’ the universe, it would appear to be a higher dimension to them. And looking back on their universe using all their instruments of study, they will be faced with a giant universal explosion, a big bang. As the outsiders would see it, the ‘big bang’ was the start commands of the program and the begin of the simulation.

Furthermore, could it be a recursive process? Could we, as human beings, eventually create the technology to generate a simulation so real, so much like our own universe that it generates within it, planets, systems, and eventually life?

Would this generated life be as real as us? If it was based on the same fundamental rules governing our world. And would that make us gods and universe-creators?

This is a umm.. Sing-a-long/music track/GSSV(Game slideshow video) Lyrics from www.espiokaos.com Ah memories! I use to go online just to hear this song on the lobby jukeboxes! That Damn Jukebox wasn’t cheap ya know! 100 meseta per song! While other people played the themes of Somba de Amigo or Jet Set Radio Future. I always spent my tourny cash on this song. To bad it all had to come to an end and the game died down pretty quick… Here is my favorite line from the song “Nothing will last forever” indeed….*sniff* Thaneros notes: There has been alot of Sega hate these days but I still think they rock! According to my knowledge:
•Fundamental particles like electrons, protons and neutrons combine to form an atom.
•An atom combines with another atom to form molecule.
•A molecule combines with other molecules to form compounds.
•Compounds combine to form cell.
•Cell combines with other cells to form tissue.
•Tissues combine to form organs.
•Organs give rise to organ system.
•Organ system gives rise to organism.
•Group of organism combine to form specie.
•Species combine to form population.
•Different species combine to form community.
•Community to form biome.
•Biome to form universe.
Note:
I am a human and human mistakes are must. So I am hoping for the scientifically correct answer.

Your question comprises not only biology but also Physics, Chemistry and Ecology.
Electrons, protons, neutrons, atom are the subject of both Physics and Chemistry.
Molecules, compounds along with electrons, protons, neutrons, atom are part of Chemistry.
Cell, tissue, organs, organism, species are part of Biology.
Population, community, biome are part of ecological science.

So, you are not confined with biology anymore!!

Regarding your sequence, as far as I know, now in the sub-atomic field some other part do exists( fermion( named after Fermi, German scientist & boson, named after Bengali scientist Satyendra Nath Bose). Your sequences are correct, i guess.
