Question by Murcatko: What you think about book The Secret? (Rhonda Byrne)?
I think, that it works… I have personal experiences, but… I can´t concentrate… Because i´m quite lazy and I…
I know, that I can have anything, but… it´s hard to concentrate my mind for 1 thing…
What you think about this book?
(sorry if i have some mistakes there)

Best answer:

Answer by HPvD
I do think that a positive thing about it is that in The Secret – as I understand it – can give you a sense of being responsible for
your own destiny.

Although I do wonder if there isn’t a risk that some people might explane it in a way that they can become very focussed on
material things only.

All the Best,

What do you think of Canada’s new “secret” law where they can arrest and search ANYONE without an ID?

Question by RLP: What do you think of Canada’s new “secret” law where they can arrest and search ANYONE without an ID?
TORONTO — The Ontario government secretly passed legislation giving police sweeping new powers for the duration of the G8 and G20 summits.

Police are now able to jail anyone who refuses to furnish identification and submit to a search while within five metres of a designated security zone in downtown Toronto.

Critics reacted furiously to the new rules, which remained unpublicized until Thursday when a 32 year-old man was arrested in Toronto for refusing to show ID to police.

New Democrat MPP Peter Kormos said Friday the provincial Liberals created a “Kafka-esque” situation where people could be arrested for violating rules they didn’t know existed.

“This is very very repugnant stuff and should be troubling to everybody,” he said.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) said it was “extremely concerned” that the new measures violate constitutional safeguards

Q&A: I think I have perfect vision, but in bright lights my vision gets really blurry?

Question by : I think I have perfect vision, but in bright lights my vision gets really blurry?
okay i can see well, i think i have 20/20 vision or close to 20/20 vision, but in math class the lights above are bright and i notice my vision gets soo blurry i can barely see the board. do i need glasses? or i have some type of problem??

Best answer:

Answer by carlos E
its the lights, not you. when there is a great amount of light hitting your eyes, it loses focus on some otherthing around you. Thus, there are less details, and i appears blurry. also, if you just came from somewhere a little darker, or just not that bright, then you’re pupils woulld be slightly larger. When you ae in the dark, your pupils get big so more light can be detected. They get small when its really bright because if they remained big when it’s bright (in the room) then all that light affects you even more as your eyes are no adjusted. also, depending on how far away you sit, light can sometimes make it pretty tough seeing details when its so bright
i doubt you need glasses

good luck though

Question by J.A.N.E.T. 9: Do you think John die at then of The Grey?
I don’t think he died.

Here’s why I think this:

Throughout the movie, they showed that clip several times of his wife(?) girlfriend(?) telling him to not be afraid.

But the last time they showed this before the fight with the Alpha, they showed an IV drip, which I don’t remember seeing in the other clips.

Also, he activated the GPS thing right before the fight.

So I think they found him and was in the hospital.

That’s my take.

What do you think?

Also, how did you feel at the end of the movie?

There was just so much emotion. The scene with John going through the wallets, the music, and the reading of the poem.

Great movie.

I thought it’d be as the poem of his father suggests, and therefore both. he lived and died at the same time. his head did lay on the wolfs as the wolf was dying

What do you think of this statement based on judging.?

Question by Just Human: What do you think of this statement based on judging.?
“I know little therefore I shall judge standing on frailty – and not judge, but instead think of infinite possibilities of what it could be and judge on many.”

Offer any thoughts, any feelings, and thing you want.

Best answer:

Answer by anonimous
This makes me think of an aspect of our jury system that Jurors are to base their decisions on just the things that are presented in the trial. If an expert witness for one side of the trial says something and the other side does not raise any doubt about the truth of the statement then the jury is expected to accept what was said. Jurors are not expected to base the decision on things they have learned prior to the trial. If somebody knows something about the topic of the trial they usually are excluded from serving.

The motivation for excluding such people is to exclude jurors that potentially have a reason to decide one way or the other that is something other than a desire for the truth. If one has a knowledge about the topic of the case one might have a vested interest in a particular outcome of the trial.

This is yet another example of the fact that no system devised by man is perfect.

Do you think half an hour of meditation a night is good?

05 MAY

Author: The Oracle

Question by : Do you think half an hour of meditation a night is good?
It’s creative visualization I do once in deep meditation, so you know.

What’s your opinion on this? What meditations do YOU do? How long do you do them? Share your meditative side too, I love to hear about others’ opinions and practices!

Cheers!

Best answer:

Answer by Multiple Faces
I do really deep meditations to the point as if I’m dreaming. Creative Visualization is way easier when you are meditation. You can feel and see things as if it’s so real and you’re there.

I usually meditate as if I’m on a beach and it feel so calming, so relaxing and just like heaven when I’m there. I also swim deep in the waters and find treasure chests. I open them with a key and when it opens, there is a pure white light that will envelop me! The feeling is awesome!!! I do some kind of AFFIRMATIONS OR AFFORMATIONS that I want to develop in my personality or have something in real life.

This meditation helps you open your mind to possibilities and help you put beliefs in your mind. It erases limiting beliefs.

I also meditate going to a FAIRY LAND with water falls and the FULL MOON so big and with the water glittering with lights. It’s a good feeling. I also make myself look like a GODDESS and I look so beautiful!!! It makes you feel really good and confident in yourself in real life.

I do meditations whenever I feel like it and stop whenever I feel like it. Meditation is a very powerful tool in changing your life, your beliefs and things you want to happen in your life!!!

Do you think the secret aka law of attraction while beneficial in a common sense way can also be used?

05 MAY

Question by zzzzzzzzzzzzzz: Do you think the secret aka law of attraction while beneficial in a common sense way can also be used?
as a tool of subjugation rather than empowerment ? I mean to tell someone that has experienced abuse and victimisation they are responsible, this only happens to you because you draw it on yourself, you are creating the reality is irresponsible and dangerous philosophy in some respects. One of my brothers says this to because of my experiences with bullies and emotionally abusive people (including him). His logic is that the things that happen to me happen nowhere near as frequently to him or other members of my family (who all have been assholes to me in various senses). If these things do happen to me it is because I am a soft target, gentle, quiet, I feel guilty if I snuff out the life of a spider let alone hurt a person. But, I do not draw it to myself in a law of attraction sense. It feels really shitty that someone who has made fun of me at my expense or put me down or tried to dent my confidence is now giving me tips on the law of attraction and saying all of this is my fault. It seems like the bullies justification you know. Phoebe Prince did not draw the animals that bullied her to death recently and I do not draw scumbags either into my life but they are out there. Anyway, it seems sometimes like a double blow to start spouting law of attraction stuff to someone that has been insulted and abused in some way you know? Can I really trust my brother who has been one of the people that stepped on my head to feel good and get ahead? Is that a person really on my side who then tells me I am attracting the behaviour from him and the other members of the family? I think there is a logic in the law of attraction do not get me wrong. Positivity is always better than negativity but **** happens too you know that is not any persons fault

Parents, I’m looking to be a life coach specifically working with children that need encouragement, direction, sense of value, and support to make it in today’s challenging society.

I want to know if parents would use this resource.

Best answer:

Answer by Velken
Not alot of them. They are usually dysfunctional because of their parents. A parent that doesn’t care isn’t going to pay you to fix things. There are some children where the parents have truly tried and would welcome the help. If you want to try it, then do so. Just don’t quit your day job until this plan brings in decent money.

In the Law of Attraction, do you attract what you think or how you feel?

30 APR

Author: The Oracle

Question by Sam Hale: In the Law of Attraction, do you attract what you think or how you feel?
In the Law of Attraction, do you attract what you think or how you feel?

In the books I’m reading, it says that the Universe does not understand good or bad only thought. So if you think about something negative, such as, “I will never get out of debt.” It will apply the word debt and bring you more of it. However, if you tell yourself, “I am successful.” It will bring you success. It does not bring you the opposite of what you think about, so does that mean that even though I feel like shit, that I can say positive things and these things will happen?
Also, what does “believing” entitle? Is it the thought process where it automatically kicks into full gear without you telling it to? Is it when your feelings are registered under the Law and you are no longer guilt-free but thought-free from bringing yourself down? What?

Q&A: Do you think that materialism is the most accurate description of life and the cosmos?

29 APR
2012

Author: The Oracle

Question by Life is a picture, and I play the lead: Do you think that materialism is the most accurate description of life and the cosmos?
*Please note: I would prefer it if contributors refrained from quoting scripture or making mere expressions of faith about this question. Anything genuinely theologically, philosophically or even scientifically thoughtful would be much more preferable.

To be more precise in formulating this question, do you think that materialism (or naturalism), the view that all reality is reducible to matter and nothing else, is sufficient to explain everything we observe in the universe, from the most distant galaxies to the inner workings of the brain that result in the phenomenon of the mind?

I personally am inclined to think that it is – even if we cannot yet explain why this fundamental matter came into existence. It seems, at least prima facie, that we thinking things are in fact complex and subtle machines.

However, I only say that I ‘am inclined’ to think that thoroughgoing materialism captures all of life and the universe. For I have also considered that it may not. John Lock, for example, posits that one of two things must be true about us human beings, yet both seem difficult to comprehend: either we must be material objects which think and have emotions, or there must be something immaterial in us which thinks and has emotions and is uniquely related to the material object which is our body. Lock says that if we try to systematically rationalize either view, then we find them to be extremely difficult to comprehend. Yet one of them must be true.

So perhaps this argument demonstrates that the materialist weltanschauung is inherently defective, or at least not as efficacious as some think. Then there is the precise origin and nature of consciousness, which, for now, remains a profound mystery.

This is a question that troubles me considerably and I would be interested in hearing what other, more informed contributors, think about this vexed issue.

Question by : Is the real “Secret” that the true “Law” is you attract the opposite of what you think?
So many people say they have tried the so-called “Secret” and ‘Law of Attraction” and either nothing changed or things got even worse in their lives.

And personally I can think of several times in my life when I was so positive something was going to be great and work out in every way I hoped with total belief and with no doubts at all and much to my shock things would go to hell and end up being a horrible disappointment.

And many other times when I had no hope at all for various situations that I felt angry or sad about and much to my shock things turned out great!.

SO what the hell? Is the true Secret and Law that you actually attract the exact opposite of what you Truly think and feel?
it is like they want to keep the True secret a real secret
Heathen: lol I have no doubt you are correct
G C: but then why was it SO many times that I dwelled upon things and they went the exact opposite direction?

There are many things, like death or consciousness, which seem very wonderful to us, and have attracted religious or supernatural explanations. But to a hypothetical scientist from the planet Zog, they might seem like trivial chemical reactions among many others.
I find it very hard to imagine that time has not existed for ever, so why should material, be it Higgs bosons, strings, or something else beyond our ken, not have also existed for ever.
