If someone is said to have no common sense, does this mean that there is something wrong with a certain area of their brain?
I know this sounds like a weird question, but I am actually curious about this.

Logic and abstract thought are carried out primarily in the neocortex. That said, specific reasoning is primarily conducted in the frontal lobe, while spatial reasoning is parietal lobe characteristic. Some linguistic rules, such as grammar, are handled by the temporal lobe. “Common sense” could be localized to any number of structures in the brain, and even the spinal cord. Say if someone were to lack this part, could possibly have Savant syndrome and just have no common sense in general.

  1. Manchot says:

“No common sense” is thrown around more than it should be. It is often more mental than physical. It is probably a psychological thing, rather than a biology thing.
